G. Ross Ramsey

G. Ross RamseyG. Ross Ramsey is a management consultant specializing in improving the performance of organizations. His public and private sector career throughout Canada and the US for the past 35 years has focused on board governance, healthcare, foundation development and organizational effectiveness. He holds an Hon. B.A. degree from Loyola College (Montreal) and an M.S.W. from Dalhousie (Halifax).

He held senior government positions in Nova Scotia, Manitoba (CEO of a crown corporation) and Alberta where he became responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of public sector healthcare organizations.

In 1985, Ross became the founding President of a private foundation created by the Kaiser family in British Columbia. The assignment included moving the foundation through its formative stages to full operations governed by a unique Board consisting of senior business leaders and three BC Government Ministers.

In 1988, he founded his own company, which provides organizational effectiveness (OE) consulting services to a wide arrange of clients. OE assists clients to design structures and practices that promote organizational performance; solve problems of internal adaptation and external survival; and, remove barriers that impede the achievement of desire results. Between 1989 and 2003, he also served as President of Optima Humanus Inc (OHI). OHI provided OE and health and safety consulting services.

Mr. Ramsey’s voluntary sector experience includes service as Chair of the Board of Two national organizations: Community Foundations of Canada (1998-2002), and the Canadian Addictions Foundation (1980-1981). Among his numerous other contributions: Director, Centre for Sustainability; Advisory, Kakawis Family Development Centre; Member, Youth Advisory Committee, Vancouver Foundation; Director, Rediscovery International Foundation; Native Alcohol Abuse Program Regional Advisory Board (Prairie); President, Manitoba Racquetball Association; and Vice President, Zoological Society of Manitoba. In the private sector, he is currently a Director of Viewpoint Medical Assessment Services Inc.
